I... uh, thanks?
I mean... of all the things I put in there and experimented with, you were the most impressed with the text? ^^;;

Not 'most impressed with', just as an extra detail. I really like how you made your own expressions for the characters, the scaling for the foreground versus middleground creatures, how you set up the one in the back to look like it's coming between the mountains, and how you put it all together.

Not a new one, but I decided to redo one of my images since I became increasingly unhappy with it the more I looked at it. Mostly, I thought the towers kind of ruined the perspective. So, I basically redid them and then added some more stuff from Lords of Midnight. And there we go. Maybe now I can get some inspiration to do something new again and get further aquaintanced with my old version Photoshop replacement: GIMP.

I went and set up my Flickr account, which I had on account of having a Yahoo account. You can see all these images there, as well as one I made recently for the calendar I'm making for my friend. It's a little more "just want to look at the pictures" friendly than Photoshop. www.flickr.com/photos/northlander72

These are great. One of the best parts is that you could also go the other way. Game settings with reality inserted. I can just see Nintendo's Little Mac fighting actual Mike Tyson, or a person looking at a map while standing outside of the entrance to an 8-bit dungeon.

Thanks for the heads up! I'm happy to be able to see more of these. I have a few more ready, but I've been hesistant of uploading them anywhere because they're going to be used to make a Christmas present for a friend of mine. (I did the same last year, and it was pretty well received, which was what lead me to do more of this in the first place.) I'm probably overthinking that, though, so maybe I'll upload the ones I've done so far tomorrow. These are great. One of the best parts is that you could also go the other way. Game settings with reality inserted. I can just see Nintendo's Little Mac fighting actual Mike Tyson, or a person looking at a map while standing outside of the entrance to an 8-bit dungeon. It's a nice idea, but that's not gonna be my boat... I think, at least for now. I'll see where I can run with this niche first.

Paddlin' Priest and the Snow DragonsGames used: Bonze Adventure (arcade), Last Ninja (Commodore 64) The Bonze credo: As long as you're paddling in water (technically), you can escape any grisly fate. Or something. Log Strolling in the River.Game used: World Games (Commodore 64) When regular ol' log rolling competitions aren't exciting enough, just add flowing water, and lots of it. The Mountain Troll.Game used: Lords of Midnight (Commodore 64) Well... this fight is obviously going to take a while. Or... uh, maybe not? Either way, some toe cuticles are going to get it today. (The Beast would weep.) The Pogo Zerg Rush Stampede.Game used: Pogo Joe (Commodore 64) When reality and weird, group-based activities meet, color explosions happen. You might have to download the original-sized one and get really close up and personal on this one. All of these are also available on my Flickr wall if that's the venue you prefer.

Here's one I've been working for a while; the one I can safely say I've spent the most time on of all of them. Yes, even more than the insane Pogo Joe one. ^^;; The Hikes of WarGame used: Rastan Saga (Arcade) And so, the surprisingly well-organized barbarian horde clashed with the draconian forces in the mountains. While "Killing Barney Made Easy" was a book they might've all read, this colorful bunch probably won't be so easily defeated.

The Golden Axe Stables.Game used: Golden Axe (arcade) For all your weird-ass fantasy modes of transportation and attack, we present to you The Golden Axe Stables. Whether you prefer the tail whip or the flaming inferno, these people have you covered. Personal satisfaction or your money back. And, as always, also uploaded to Flickr. (For those of you who have problems with Photobucket.)

On 'The Hikes of War', did you have to place each barbarian individually? It looks great. And yes, Golden Axe had some odd mounts.

Yes, each barbarian was carefully handpicked and placed one by one so that they would mesh properly with the elevation of the scenery (and not just look like a plank of meat.) I did place them side by side at first, but that ended up looking all weird and wrong. I did the same with the lizard people on the right. The only laziness I allowed myself was the skincolor and weapon combinations -- I.E. all the barbarians with the darkest skin tone carries axes and all the barbarians with the palest skin tone carry the chain/spiked ball maces and so forth.

Superdimensional Bunny Defense Squad vs. The Bionic Kitties From Space.Game used: Parodius/Gokuiyou Parodius/Sexy Parodius (Arcade) The aliens are here, and they bring milk and bovine invasion forces. Nobody is safe. But wait, is that a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's.... a bunny girl riding a missile. Or... well, several. War. War never changes. Except when it does. Then it becomes silly. And, as always, the pictures can also be found on my Flickr account.

Toobin' on Ice.Game used: Toobin' (Arcade) Ah, to be young and into ice bathing again. And of course someone has to make a sport out of it, where you'll freeze yourself blue before you reach the goal. Logging off at the halfway point.Game used: World Games (Commodore 64) Completing the trainee river that was the last one, our two loggariffic heroes try their luck in streamier waters, soon to their regret. They were simply not ready. Moonlight in Your Eyes.Game used: Doom (PC.) Guess the reference and win a prize; your immortal soul... stolen! And then you shall reap your rewards in hellfire and pain. Welcome to the flip side, my innocents. Also... well, you know the drill.
