I'm going to try to be better about managing my games this year for the sake of my back catalog (and also to get through a good mix of new and not quite so new games).
This is my list of games I'd like to finish for 2018 as it currently stands, and in order of interest:
Should Play: Danganronpa v3 - Why? It was a Christmas present that I specifically told the giver I was interested in. Root Double - Why? Because my rule for Steam games is never buy anything unless my Steam backlog is clear. Until this is done no Steam games for me! Final Fantasy XV - Why? I bought this thing on sale for $30 a year ago because I thought it was such a good deal, but if I wait much longer it won't be. Lost Dimension - Why? Another Christmas present. I like the game conceptually, but I heard it's a little wonky on excution so it's not as high on my list.
Should Finish: SMT: Strange Journey- The updated remake is out later this year and I haven't finished the original yet! I'm already 60-70% done. Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright- 90% done here. Seriously, just get the last of the kids and finish the last boss fight so I can check this off. Disgaea: Hour of Darkness- Very close to the end. Just another couple chapters I think. I want to go play another Disgaea game, which I refuse to do while the first one is unfinished. Golden Sun: The Lost Age- I think I'm over halfway through, and since I was writing a Let's Play on here for it, I actually have a very good record of what I was doing when I left off. Shouldn't be hard to pick up again with the right motivation. Persona 4 Arena- I've done about half the endings, and I have the sequel also in my backlog. >.<
Not Yet Bought: Code:Realize ~ Future Blessings ~- Coming in March. Sequel to my favorite otome ever.
I suspect some of the "Should Finish" list will remain unfinished, but I'd like to knock out at least 2-3 of them.
In total, this is a list of 10 games, which is plenty to work on.

Code:Realize ~ Future Blessings ~- Coming in March. Sequel to my favorite otome ever. Code:Realize anime is kinda boring. Not terrible...just I find myself always getting drowsy as I try to finish it.
Already Playing: Skyrim Special Edition- it's getting the job done. Not bored yet. Want to Play: Ni No Kuni 2: Revenent Kingdom- I'm looking forward to this one. Looks like it will have everything I want from regular RPG goodness to strategy to kingdom building. Need to Finish: Fallout 4- eventually...when I just want to run around shooting crazy shit. Dragonball Xenoverse 2- I'll get back to it when I feel like I need to be in the Dragonball universe again. Right now watching Dragonball Super is getting the job done there. Should Play Again: XCOM 2- it was really short, but fun. At some point when I can afford it I'll get the DLC and the Expansion and play it again. Will Play: Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen- when it drops later this year, I'll hopefully/should have a desktop up and running again. I've got a guild just waiting for me to get online again for it. .hack GU: Last Recode- just waiting for it to be $20 or less. Might Play:Elder Scrolls Online- my guild is playing it to pass the time until Pantheon. If I get a computer before Pantheon drops, I'll join them there.

Might as well jump on the bandwagon. Already Playing:Final Fantasy XIV - One of my New Year's resolutions was to start paying my sub in 90-day increments in hopes of saving more money down the line. Also learned that a couple of members of Team Four Star have been playing it recently, so looking forward to possibly partying with net celebs. Want to Play:TERA - I've been hearing good (and some mixed things) things about the upcoming console version. Hopefully they'll have fixed a few things that players of the PC version keep complaining about. Need to Finish:Final Fantasy XV - Started from scratch now that I have all the DLC from 2017. Already beat Episode Gladiolus and had just started Episode Ignis before I got sidetracked by... Dragon Quest Heroes II - ...this game. Unfortunately, I remembered I still had an active sub for FFXIV, so I let this fall to the side. Plus, I wanted to play the prequel again before I went any further because reasons. Will Play:Secret of Mana - Just need to wait until March. *sobs* Should Play Again:Diablo III - It's been long enough. My Necromancer is still waiting. Dragon Quest Heroes - I've already been chipping away at this once every now and then. Brings me back to when I first got it. Simpler days.

Secret of Mana - Just need to wait until March. *sobs* Ah. That totally slipped my mind. But I'm not paying $40 for it. That's a wait til cheaper.

It's March and I'm updating this list because I finished something. One down. Next new game priority is Root Double (after I knock out this quick little Steam game I picked up for free... should only take an hour or two...)
Should Play:
Danganronpa v3 Root Double Final Fantasy XV Lost Dimension
Should Finish: SMT: Strange Journey Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright Disgaea: Hour of Darkness Golden Sun: The Lost Age Persona 4 Arena
Not Yet Bought: Code:Realize ~ Future Blessings ~ - Out later this month! Got the limited edition on pre-order. SMT: Strange Journey Redux - On pre-order (I think I actually pre-ordered this last year but forgot to list it here) Attack on Titan 2 - Unless there's a good pre-order deal this is going to get backburnered to when the price is $30 or less
Added to Backlog: Bad Apple Wars - I found the Gamestop-only special release with mini-artbook was still in stock and had a price cut so I picked it up before it could disappear. *sigh*
Finished even though it wasn't on the list: Valentines Otome - Pay what you want indie title. Very good, though the fact it's indie and done by only two people is pretty apparent; as in good job for two people, but you can tell it was only two people.

Updating because why not. Already Playing:Final Fantasy XIV - Getting my alt near the end of Stormblood. Seriously though, check out Lanipator and Takahata101's Burning Youth of Eorzea streams. *cough*shamelessplug*cough* Want to Play:TERA - Open Beta starts on the 11th. Here's hoping its good. Need to Finish:Final Fantasy XV - .....goddammit Square and your shitty timing of the Royal Edition release. Now I have to put this on hold further. >_< Dragon Quest Heroes II - Still need to finish prequel because OCD. Secret of Mana - Hit Ice Country and just stopped a few weeks ago. I need to finish this, but memories of grinding tho... ;_; (Reika: Must plat. Must plat. :3) Drgaon Quest Heroes - Definitely need to finish this one soon, not just to transition back into DQH II, but to make room in my HD for TERA. =< Will Play:(Undetermined at this time.) Should Play Again:Diablo III - It's been long enough. My Necromancer is still waiting.

Yeah, I'm both glad and annoyed with FF XV. I'm glad I didn't start playing it yet, but I'm annoyed because I only want to do one "definitive" playthrough of it.

Yeah, I'm both glad and annoyed with FF XV. I'm glad I didn't start playing it yet, but I'm annoyed because I only want to do one "definitive" playthrough of it. All commentary from SE says they will continue content for at least another year...so might wanna put your waiting pants on and be comfy. Guess I'll update my list as priorities and tastes changed: Currently Playing: Monster Hunter World- it really is addictive. You'd think hunting monsters over and over again would get boring, but it's fun pwning them. And...must get better gear so I can kill more monsters!!!! Want to Play: Ni No Kuni 2: still want this one, but no idea when I'll go for it once it comes out. Dragon Quest XI: Duh. Need to Finish: Skyrim: It got too easy, so I got bored. That...and the one chick I'd wanna marry, you couldn't without a mod, so that pissed me off a little. I'll go back at some point and bulldoze to the end. Fallout 4: see earlier entry. Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2: see earlier entry (DBS still giving me my fix of battle cries and power ups). Mass Effect Andromeda: I should go back and finish my last replay with FemRyder. I liked her. Then I'll have an excuse to start the ME train all over again. I'm still surprised I've ended up liking that franchise so much. Will Play: Pantheon and .hack: see earlier entry. Wish List:
Dragon Age 4: it's coming......I just have to be patient. Record of Grancrest War: I'm enjoying the anime, and they just announced a strat game release in Japan. I have to hope they do a West release, because while watching the anime all I could think was "man, I'd love to play this if it were a game."

Yeah, I read there's still more FFXV content coming! Ugh... Maybe I'll end up bumping FFXV out this year's plan. I've got enough games as is.
I heard about DA4, but it's probably a long ways off. I don't think there have been any screenshots yet, which means it's all pre-production stuff right now. I'm also really leery of it since EA seems to be dead-set on the whole "games as service" thing where they go a long tale of DLC for ages and ages. Story-based games don't work as well for that.

Based upon the template they created for DAI, all interviews so far say they are not going to break from it, but are going to double down on character based stories for the next game. Frankly, I've never been disappointed by any of the DA entries, so I'm excited no matter what. DAI was one of the few games I've played the hell out of so much, there is literally no surprise or anything unexplored. The only beef I ever really had was lack of hair customization in character design. They really skimped on hair choices.

Already Playing: Final Fantasy XIV - Too much of it, in fact. But that's just what happens when you join a FC and gets involved with both older members and the new ones. Especially the new ones. Lately, I've been familiarizing myself with Wiping City and Dun Scaith -- yeah, I know I'm late to the party -- and as soon as I feel I'm sufficiently good at them, I'll try my hand at the Stormblood alliance raid. I'm basically just late to the party because I've been doing so much roulettes with the gang lately.
Minecraft: PS4 edition - Somewhat recently restarted working on what I hope will be my new labyrinth complex. The first of those just required me to do some massive terraforming beforehand, so it got put on the backburner for a while.
Want to Play:
Dragon's Crown Pro - This game got a lot of... press, shall we say... for a few things, not the least of which its somewhat absurd character designs, especially on the women's side. But it's also a 2D-styled brawler game with some seriously good graphics, and I love those games. (I got that D&D collection on the 360, amongst other things.) I'm trying to see how the game actually plays, but the trailers on the PS4 are being spectacularly unhelpful with that, seeing as it's trying to overwhelm me with quick cuts and picking among the most action-heavy parts. At least, that's the impression I get, but game trailers tend to do that, even when the game itself is of the more languid variety.
Elder Scrolls Online - The main reason why I'm not is that I'm not sure I need more huge time sinks in my life right now.
Final Fantasy XV - ...eventually. Possibly.
The games on my preordered Commodore 64 Mini - Hellooooo returning gaming childhood.
Need to Finish:
Pains 'n Aches - Currently playing this every now and then on a Commodore 64 emulator. It's the sequel to Knight 'n Grail and, interestingly, you play as the magus who bestowed upon the main character of said prequel the ability to turn into a human and wield a sword. (The game plays it up a bit ambiguously on whether she was an actual good person too, so... this should be interesting to see.)
Fallout 4 - I haven't done the expansion packs yet.
Skyrim: Special Edition - I've mostly finished all the stuff with my one character so far, but I also wanted to recreate Fistmaster Meatpuncher on the PS4 version, since I sort of came up with him rather late in my regular 360 version era, where I still loved the game, but I had played it for so long that my OTHER backlog was starting to get a bit high.
Borderlands 2: The Handsome Collection - I still need to break properly into the third difficulty level. And I haven't even completed the Pre-sequel yet.
Axiom Verge - Also a game I've played pretty far into, but not completed yet.
COsmic Star Heroine - Not played quite as far into this, but it's definitely another game I need to complete.
Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams - Again, another game I haven't completed yet. And the music on this one is so good.
Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight - Again, got quite far in this, but then got sidetracked by something else, and I don't even remember what.
Rebel Galaxy - I remember the sudden steep difficulty climb on this one put me off, although to be honest, that was more of an "as I was told" case due to the mission ratings. This was a rather unique game with a seemingly fun story, and I really should revisit this one and finish it.
Sonic Mania - I got to the ice level boss and got my ass kicked. Didn't return to it... yet. Should do so, though, given that this is the first good Sonic game in quite a while. Although I did like Generations, I hated how the hub world set me up to grind short stage sequences repeatedly just for boss access.
Wonderboy: The Dragon's Trap - This got sidelined too. Which I can't even defend, because it's such a great remake. Of a game I never played originally, granted, but I love these kinds of games.
Should Play Again:
More of the games in my little Arcade Archives collection - Seriously, they're fun games, and they ARE easier to just dig up and play a round of every now and then.
Cursed Castilla/Maldita Castilla EX - Now this is how you do a Ghosts 'n Goblins homage.
Doom - Already completed this one, but with me finding out how to switch joypad sticks in the PS4 menu, I should play this one again with gaming controls better suited to me (which I couldn't before because I hadn't found that option yet, or it didn't exist at the point when I bought this game.)
Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age - I found the camera control in this game a bit janky after playing FF XIV for so long, but aside from that, it's been fun playing this game again. And thanks to the possibility to set the speed to 4x, I can already tell the grindier sections are going to be a lot less frustrating, boring, and possibly a lot more hilarious. They should've licensed Yakety Sax as music you could potentially activate for that mode alone.
Journey - It's been a while since I last played through it. It's such a lovely game.

With the completion of Root Double, that's one more game I can cross off the list. Added a total games tracker at the bottom, which basically will tally any crossed off games from the top four categories and any listed in the fifth category (the spontaneous, unplanned games that ended up finished), giving me the total number of games I've completed this year. Ideally that number will be 12 by year's end, but probably won't be, especially if I run into another game as time-sucking as last year's Persona 5.
Next game to play is going to be Code:Realize ~ Future Blessings ~ because I pre-ordered that thing for a reason.
Should Play:
Danganronpa v3
Root Double Final Fantasy XV Lost Dimension
Should Finish: SMT: Strange Journey Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright Disgaea: Hour of Darkness Golden Sun: The Lost Age Persona 4 Arena
Not Yet Bought: SMT: Strange Journey Redux - On pre-order Attack on Titan 2 - This is going to stay as a wishlist item until price is $30 or less
Added to Backlog: Bad Apple Wars Digimon: Cyber Sleuth: Hacker's Memory - Totally forgot I bought this in January Code:Realize ~ Future Blessings ~ - Pre-order arrived!
Finished even though it wasn't on the list: Valentines Otome PRICE - Free gothic point and click game. Only takes 60-90 minutes to finish, but packs a good point for the time investment.
Total games completed in 2018: 4

Now that Code:Realize ~Future Blessings~ is done, it's time for another game. I was thinking of going back to the original Strange Journey so I can finish it before the remake arrives, but decided I'd like to try something new and I want something with some strategy in it to engage my brain. Given Final Fantasy XV's ongoing patch train, so that means it's time for Lost Dimension. I'm also starting to see how my backlog develops since I decided to track my gaming with this thread. If not for the otome glut I would be far more successful at keeping this down, but the genre is still relatively nascent stateside so I'm not used to seeing a lot of high quality commercial product. There's a part of me that's afraid it'll crash and that'll be the end of it. Aksys is still the only console publisher that translates the stuff. There are always indies, true, but they're usually not as long or as deep, given the limited resources. Should Play:Danganronpa v3 Root DoubleFinal Fantasy XVLost DimensionShould Finish:SMT: Strange JourneyFire Emblem Fates: BirthrightDisgaea: Hour of DarknessGolden Sun: The Lost AgePersona 4 ArenaNot Yet Bought:SMT: Strange Journey Redux - On pre-order Attack on Titan 2 - This is going to stay as a wishlist item until price is $30 or less 7'scarlet - Debating whether I should pre-order or gamble on a lower price Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk - Debating whether I should pre-order or gamble on a lower price Added to Backlog:Bad Apple WarsDigimon: Cyber Sleuth: Hacker's MemoryCode:Realize ~Future Blessings~Period: Cube - Because I am terrible and it looks like this one was going out of print sooner than expected so I wanted to buy before it got to price-gouging territory Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly - This was a late pre-order as Aksys didn't even list the release date until less than a month of release Finished even though it wasn't on the list:Valentines OtomePRICETotal games completed in 2018: 5

Time to break out the homework.
Currently Playing:
Final Fantasy XV - Got the Royal Pack. I'm caught up with all the DLC. I'll get the 2nd Season Pass on Christmas. I'm ready to do this.
Want to Play:
Dragon Quest XI
Need to Finish:
Dragon Quest Heroes - OCD! OCD! OCD!
Dragon Quest Heroes II - Pretty much stalled after Cretia. (Reika: Never thought I'd see someone rival Jessica for fanservice. Hoo boy. ^_^) Need to pick this back up.
Secret of Mana - Game unexpectedly crashed in the middle of the Dark Palace. Autosave should put me in the next room, but I'm kinda scared to continue.
Should Play Again:
Diablo III - It's been long enough. My Necromancer is still waiting.

Currently Playing:
Nothing.....I just beat the main quest in Skyrim with little fanfare for my victory, and with that done I've pretty much beaten all the quest content of the game. There is nothing of note left to do...so I've kept 1 save file and deleted the game.
So, I have no idea what I'm going to play right now....with 2 months til my move, and 3 months til I can afford a new desktop computer which will let me get back to MMOs, which is what I really want to do.
Continuous Play:
Monster Hunter World- The hunt will never end, but I've killed everything within my ability to do so, and done it for over 200 hours at this point. There was a raid boss dragon event previously, but I would have had to pug it, and I wasn't feeling pugging anything in MHW at the time. So, in the end I'm hanging up my Dual Blades until the next round of monster types gets released.
Want to Play:
Ni No Kuni 2: still want this one, but since I hear it's an easy mode game, I refuse to pay a lot for it. Gonna wait a long while for the price to drop.
Dragon Quest XI: Still a Duh, but still going to wait until the holidays to pick it up. The recently offered pre order DLC not enough to entice me sooner.
EDIT: Conan: Exiles: Duuuuuuuude!!!!! Survival game set in Hyboria!!!! Scratch your way from dirt to success!!!! I think I need this!!!!
Need to Finish:
Fallout 4: see earlier entry.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2: see earlier entry.
Mass Effect Andromeda: I should go back and finish my last replay with FemRyder. I liked her. Then I'll have an excuse to start the ME train all over again. I'm still surprised I've ended up liking that franchise so much.
Will Play:
Pantheon and .hack: see earlier entry.
