My second vaccine shot went really well. I was fully expecting to spend the next day or two in bed and had ordered extra books, since it seems to not go well for people with chronic illnesses. All I had was a little arm pain, but it wasn't even as bad as fibro pain.
That being said, it sounds like my aunt did pass of Covid. I heard waaaaaaaay too many details about what my other aunts found with the cops when they went to check on her. We need to get this pandemic done with. Please, please, get your shots if you can!
(My mom was watching a replay of an episode of 'The View' this morning. Megan McCain was talking about the relaxing of the Covid rules and how living wasn't about avoiding dying and people can stay in their house forever if they want. I dropped two F-bombs at the screen and a double one-fingered salute before walking off. Mom changed the channel.)

I got my second vaccine shot earlier near the beginning of this month. With my first, I only had the arm pain for about a day and a half (though it was enough to impede my ability to pick up my 52 oz mug that I use for drinking water throughout the day). With the second shot, the arm pain wasn't as bad, but pretty much my whole body hurt off and on over the course of the following day along with a fever. And it was not a day that I could spend ignoring outside stuff either, so that was really 'fun'. Since I'm not exactly a social butterfly, I admit I wouldn't care much about hardly ever leaving the house, but hey... one would like it to be completely unrelated to, well, nastiness in the great outdoors. By the way, I'm glad people are no longer hoarding toilet paper. I am, however, hoarding that green tea brand I like. ::stares at the row of gallon jugs in the fridge:: No, it's completely not my fault that they ran out of it. Again.

Hoarding tea? I wouldn't know anything about that. (Whistles innocently while thinking of the lazy Susan and cabinet.)

I got my shots in early and late April, passed my fully vaccinated mark in mid-May. I've been all right being at home throughout the pandemic since I'm an introvert and well, my health has been crap since last summer. I'm happy that I don't have to be paranoid while grocery shopping or going outdoors anymore, though I still need to be careful since my treatment has the potential to make me immunocompromised at points. (I'm not at the moment, but the later weeks have the potential.) The toilet paper thing has been a source of entertainment for me just because of the timing of my last purchase. I hate buying toilet paper because it requires me to get a cart, and I'm very European in my shopping methods. I buy only what I can fit in a bag for me to carry home (two bags if I really need a lot). So to minimize the amount of times I need to buy space-hogging toilet paper, I buy the biggest package I can find so I'm well supplied for what I previously thought would be months between purchases. I never kept track before. But my last purchase was in February of last year, just before things went crazy. Over a year later I am still living out of that massive stock of toilet paper and I think there's about a quarter of it left.

I got my second shot last week. As Solana can attest from my Facebook post, it kicked my ass and took my lunch money. Still is. Can't find it in me to stay awake most days. still, I'm glad I got this crap taken care of.

I hope you feel better soon, Lark. It could be my immune system has been busy battling allergies, or sometimes my body just tosses me a frickin' bone once in a while. I can't allege to the truth of this, but I have heard that the bigger reaction you have, the more prepared and pumped your immune system will be to kick its ass.
One of my friends commented that I must be so used to pain that if they had broken my arm, my only complaint would be difficulty in raising my teacup. I said that, and figuring out who would oversee my beloved biohazard room until I'm well.
Even after I'm fully vaccinated, I'll still wear my mask for a while. I have my nephews and niece to think of. (My niece has to wait until the J&J vaccine is approved again, as she's allergic to at least one of the components in the others. Thank goodness my cousin thought to call the oncology department at the hospital that had treated her leukemia before bringing her in.)

Hope you feel better soon, Lark. I got off lucky with just fatigue and some arm pain (and the fatigue could have just been from surgery recovery), but a couple of my friends were laid pretty low with vomiting and fevers.
I still wear my mask a lot (doctor office visits obviously), but it's nice being able to see my fully vaccinated dad and no longer have to mask up. Before getting my vaccine I also checked with my oncologist, not because of allergy concerns, but I saw it being encouraged online for cancer patients. He said it was fine for me to get any of them, and was the one who pushed for me to get vaccinated in the healing between surgery and chemo when my immune system would be on the upswing. I got to sign up a little early in my state because of that (a week before the vaccines were open to everyone).

Welp, made it to 2024 before getting Covid. I guess this newest variant is stupidly contagious AND not responding to the vaccine. Quite a few people have gotten it at work.
It's been like a gnarly flu, and I had awful headaches and bodyaches in the beginning that could be tamed by the glorious ambrosia known as 'Alka-Seltzer'. I've also been drinking tons of tea, water, low-sugar juice, and sugar-free Gatorade. The cough is almost done to the point where it's getting what gunk remains, and the headaches and bodyaches have vanished.
One of my mom's best friends relapsed after taking the antiviral because her body didn't have time to make antibodies from the first run. Something to keep in mind if anyone else gets sick. I also have a lot of isolation at work in my beloved biohazard suite instead of one room.
Stay healthy, everyone!
Luckily, I still had some N95s left from a pack I bought to make DarkKnight a Green Hornet mask for a costume.
