Just Feeling Really Sensitive Right Now

I've had a few not great things happen lately. I don't even want to go into those (in fact, they don't even stand out much in my mind at all, so I doubt that I could describe them well), but it contributes to the state of my emotions.


I was trying to be more active lately on the forum, KofK. And they just started the second part of their Easter event today. And you know, it seems that there's always several people that complain no matter what the event is that things are too hard, or it takes too long to do this, etc. Now, I posted this on the event announcement thread. Keep in mind, this was the entirety of the post:


To anyone who complains about the huge number of eggs: I've already managed to get enough for the first of the 12 items. It's seriously not that bad, people.

Someone was offended/insulted by that. The way they replied back and, er, declared that they felt insulted kind of made me want to go and hide somewhere. Like, forever. I tried my best to reply nicely anyway. I'm just getting really tired of being misunderstood.

I mean, do any of you guys find that post that I made insulting? I didn't direct it at anybody, and several people that are not the person I'm referring to are perpetual whiners that seem to give up without even trying, so I was meaning for it to be a push of encouragement or something.

And while this was going on, I was trying to take advantage of Big Fish Games' discount sale (My membership has been current for almost a year exactly now after I reinstated it), and when trying to check out, I got a 'we can't process this now, try again later' statement. And so, I did. Several times.

And now it claims my payment method (Paypal) is invalid. It's not. There's nothing wrong with it. I've used it recently on Steam and Gamersgate with no problem. I even checked Paypal's website to see if something weird had happened, but there was no indication of anything abnormal at all. I even re-entered my info into Big Fish's site in an attempt to somehow reset the state of affairs (a la their 'help' database's instructions). It. Didn't. Work.



I'm starting to have flashbacks to when I somehow magically got banned from some multiplayer game sites when I hadn't done anything wrong (in one case, I hadn't even been on the site for months, so it's a mystery to me why I got banned at all), and the support staff were completely unhelpful in their replies. Still, I submitted a ticket to Big Fish anyway, but I'm just not feeling too positive about people actually doing their jobs and fixing things on their end.

Oh, and by the way... am I the only one who wonders where Spring went?

And here we are; the culmination of rampant self-entitlement brought about by 8 years of Bush. Unfortunately, short of going to where these twats live and beating them with a crowbar until they learn how to be humble, there's not much you can do about these douchebags.

Whoever decided that it was cool to treat you like crap for trying to help out, they can go straight to Hell. Don't even bother with them. They aren't worth it.

As for your post, I didn't see anything wrong with it.

Believe it or not, it's not the content of your post that the person took offense to, simply the fact that you posted against them. This is usually what most of them are looking for. One of the reasons I like it here is because people don't "stir up shit" for no reason. Secondly, for those who are in earnest about their whining there is usually no helping.

I play baseball with guys who complain that they don't do better, then try to convince others that they know the right way to do stuff. I stopped joining in on the conversations, because no matter what you tell them they don't want to change. They want things to work out for them the way they are doing it so they can say they were right. Unfortunately message boards (present company the exception) are full of these people. The best thing to do when these people pop up is just what you did. Rant about it on another message board. Second best thing is Skylark's crowbar suggestion, but that tends to get a little messy.

At this point I'd have sent off a direct e-mail. Bypass all the trouble shooting stuff that usually doesn't work anyway, and talk to someone direct. You may miss the sale sometimes, but by contacting them before the sale ends sometimes they extend it for you.

I tried to find this video, but it seems to not be on youtube. It was a song sung by Bo Sheep from Garfield and Friends in which, among other things, he says, "There's no sense worrying about the things you can't control, and no point in worrying about the ones you can." Not really comforting, I know, but helpful if you really think about it.

Sorry about being so late here- there's been some big issues we've been waiting for good news on, so my mind hasn't been wanting to focus or be coherent on things.

This kind of expresses my thoughts on the whiners:



The guys are right. Some people just get pissy if they hear anything that isn't either coddling them or bowing down to their obviously epic epicness. They don't want to change because they're right and everyone else is wrong, dammit, and they're not going to let something silly like facts or logic get in the way of that mindset. All they're doing is making themselves look foolish.

Or in other words, "I will not have a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent."

As for Big Fish, I agree with Anon to try and talk with someone directly. Maybe someone screwed up somewhere and no one wants to take responsibility, though that line of thought can cost a lot of sales and loyal customers. Good luck.

Spring... it's starting to seem like a distant memory, and the crazy weather hasn't been helping my illness. Northern Midwest winters are long enough, and I've been dreaming of going back to the Atlantis. Soon enough...
