Went with the parents to pick strawberries yesterday. We game back with around 30 lbs. Now I know what you're thinking. 30 lbs? Is that all? Well we plan to go back again later. This, at least, gives us enough for some jam, berries with sugar, and maybe a batch of ice cream or two.
The bad part is what I'm feeling now. Back pain. Bending and hunching over those strawberry plants. I started feeling it last night while doing an anime marathon with a friend. Now I'm really feeling it. And I have work later today, too.

It sounds to me that you could have benefited from a small stool of some kind. At least then you wouldn't have had to bend over so far. I certainly feel your pain, having had a similar episode of intense agony when there was excessive rain and it was actually seeping up from underneath the house. All those times I kept using one of those super absorbant cloths on the same area over and over. At least you got something to show for your pains, so take comfort in that.

Strawberry plants are very low to the ground. Raising me up would make me have to bend more. Besides, it's hard to get a good angle on berries from a sitting position. Were those the wild strawberry plants with all the vines snaking everywhere? Would it be possible to kneel in between them and go for the fruit that way next time? Hope you feel better soon. Victory may taste sweet when eating them, as a form of payback perhaps. Last year at the nursery, we had to shift things around and I had to move the strawberry plants to another row. The darn things had grown and intertwined and tangled with each other into a mess, and I finally had to take my clippers and just hack them apart to move them.

No, these were just the standard strawberry plants that grow close to the ground. They're very good after they've been sliced, sugared, and chilled for a day or two, then served over vanilla ice cream. And fortunately after a day of nonstop work (and storms) I am feeling much better.
