I'm sort of writing this as a bridge/time skip to future Shrine Stories. I think our kids have been kids long enough in our comments.
Also, anyone can add to this if they feel like. Get some other people's perspectives on the kids growing up.
I know next to nothing about female anatomy and biology, so if I get something wrong, I apologize.

Kalia: Age 10
-----------
Schala: I don't understand it. I bought her a new dress, but all she seems to wear anymore are those baggy clothes.
Lark: Maybe she didn't like the design. Still, she probably would have told us.
Said person being discussed had a recent and worrying change in demeanor for the two parents. Kalia, once energetic enough to practically run the Shrine Motel's power grid on pure exuberance, had become rather withdrawn for the past couple of months. She began to stop wearing her favorite frilly dresses, and recent days, she could barely look them or anyone else in the eye.
Such a radical change was more than a little concerning and neither Lark nor Schala had any idea what to do. Reika, on the other hand, was given an epiphany in recent hours, and was sure she had a pretty good idea what was happening.
Reika: She says it doesn't fit.
Schala: What? When? She would have told us.
Lark: Yeah, and we know what size she wears. The only way it wouldn't fit would be....
Reika: :3
Lark: ...........No.
Reika: Lark... =S
Lark: Maybe she just needs to see a psychiatrist.
Reika: You know that's not the issue. I'm saying-
Lark: Your wrong.
Reika: Oy...
Schala: Reika, what's going on?
Lark: Don't you say it.
Reika: Kalia's growing out-
Lark: Not happening!
Reika: She just hit puberty.
Schala: Oh. *realization hits* Ohhhh.
Lark: *fingers in his ears* LALALALALALALALALALA!
Reika: *gives Lark a Gibbs Slap*
Lark: >_<
Schala: I know she's gotten taller, but... Isn't it too soon?
Reika: I think it's time to explain some crap. Maria!
Bounding down the hall into the room, followed by a now-grown Buff Orpington chicken.... a very large hen by the looks of it, Maria skid to a stop in front of her mother.
Reika: I know it's a couple of years early, but you're gonna want to hear this too.
Maria: Where are we going, mommy?
Reika: Kalia needs our help understanding certain things. You be a good girl and listen, okay?
Maria: Kay!
Reika: And Schala? Let me do the talking.
Schala: She's really...? Wait, Reika!
Lark: *dazed* lalalalalalala...
--------
"What are those things?"
To Ilayne, it was probably just a simple question. For Kalia however, it was entirely different. Both Ilayne and Shalia started looking at her weirdly, and even Maria made curious glances. It made her uncomfortable. A lot of things felt uncomfortable these days, and she didn't know how to handle it. She felt too ashamed to talk to her parents, and then Aunt Reika had walked in on her changing. All she could do was scream at her to get out and start crying.
What was going on? Then, a knock on the door interrupted her thoughts.
Reika: Kalia?
Kalia: Go away!
Reika: Yeah. Not happening. Open this door please.
Kalia: No!
Schala: Kalia Tsukoyamo, you open this door right now!
Kalia:
Well, that didn't sound good. Did Aunt Reika tattle? Kalia didn't want to imagine how much trouble she was in if her mother had used THAT tone. Reluctantly, she opened the door. Immediately, Orpeus squeezed through the gap in the door and made towards her feeding dish, clucking all the while.
Reika: Was that so hard?
Kalia: ......
Reika: Alright. Sit down kids. Aunt Reika's gonna tell a story.
Kalia: *turns away*
Reika: It's hard isn't it. One day, everything's normal, then all of a sudden you start feeling weird and all the other kids start staring at you. But you see, it happens to everyone. You just got hit a little earlier than the others.
Kalia: .....This is normal?
Reika: Yes it is. What, did you think everyone thinks you became a mutant just because you grew a couple inches more than usual and started growing some lumps on your chest?
Kalia: .........
Reika: ......I'm going to take that unfortunately-timed silence as a yes. You know, the only reason they think it's weird is because it hasn't happened to them yet. But it will, and they'll have second thoughts before they decide to judge.
Kalia: But...
Reika: No buts. Now come on. Let's see. We need to get an idea of what size you are now. Can't be wearing baggy clothes forever.
Kalia: *looks to her mother*
Schala: It's okay sweetie. Nobody's going to judge.
........
Reika: I... Um..... Wow.... I was not expecting this. You sure got hit early.
Schala: This... This is normal, right?
Reika: I'll be honest. That's about the size I was when I first hit puberty.
Kalia: *getting redressed* R-really...?
Schala: Really? Huh. Explains a lot.
Reika: For realsies. Not gonna lie though. Your situation isn't that common. Most girls develop slower and later than this, but I know exactly where your going from here, so if you have any questions just talk to me. Do that, and we can put you pushing me out of the room earlier behind us.
Kalia: Ummm... Is it gonna get worse?
Reika: Depends on the person. But there are some things about what's happening to you that you're not gonna like. They won't come up until later, but I should tell you now. Yes, as you get older, those breasts are gonna get bigger. In your case, much bigger. I'm comfortable with mine now, but the process pretty much hurt when I was growing up. Them getting bigger means they'll start getting heavier, and it can get very uncomfortable at times. You might want to look into back medication in the future.
Kalia: ....Not now, right?
Reika: Right. Also, and I hope Maria is taking notes on this, in a couple of years you'll start... well... How do I explain this without scaring you...? You'll start bleeding... down below once a month.
Kalia: Why...?
Reika: Don't worry, it's not a sickness or anything, though it'll seem that way sometimes. You'll get mood swings and it's pretty painful and annoying. I'll explain the finer details later, but I guarantee you will be cursing the word 'menarche' for the rest of your life.
Maria: That sounds scary.
Orpeus: *clucks*
Reika: It is if you don't know it's coming. I thought I was dying when I got my first period. It was only then that my mom decided to explain all this stuff to me. I love the woman, but I swear, she is scatterbrained as all hell.
Schala: *ahem*
Kalia: Is it really that bad mommy?
Schala: It's not bad per-say. Just painful. It's just another part of our body cycle.
Reika: And it's something boys don't have... though I think the jury's still out on wether that's a good thing or a bad thing. Oh, and here's the best part. You start seeing others around you differently than you used to. You start thinking of boys more often... Or maybe sometimes girls-
Schala: *warningly* Reika... >.>
Reika: *coughs* Anyway, that's the short version. Puberty... isn't really all that fun, but it's necessary. Could you imagine if everyone looked like children their entire lives? THAT would be wierd. What's happening to you is normal, so there's no need to be scared, okay?
Kalia: Okay.
Reika: So how about you get your mother to take you shopping tomorrow and get something appropriate for a growing girl, huh? Now run along and play.
As the two girls head out of the room...
Schala: I... I'm amazed how you handled that.
Reika: Well, you said once that your mom never really gave you the head's up, so I figured you'd be awkward about it. That girl doesn't need awkward right now.
Schala: Speaking of awkward... You think Lark's calmed down now?
..........
Lark: *from down the hall* OH GOD, WHY??!!!
Reika: .....Maybe we should give him the talk. Either he sobers up or falls into a coma. Either way will calm him down.
Schala: Ha.
Also, anyone can add to this if they feel like. Get some other people's perspectives on the kids growing up.
