So I tend to keep an eye on game console prices one interesting systems even if I have them. One of them is the Sega CD. Many of us had Model 2 which sat on the side of the system and was top loading. This one had a few problems including the spindle stopping mid play. This is what mine has been doing for a while. Not a huge issue. Jostle the system and it starts again, picking up where it left off, or I could try to repair it (supposedly a somewhat easy fix if you have the parts). However I got something better.
Yesterday, I came into work, after not having worked for a few days, to find a whole bunch of boxed NES, SNES, Genesis, 32x, and Sega CD games. They were awesome. They were pristine. And I still had money on a gift card. I was trying to decide between picking up the in box Sega Genesis Battletoads or the in box SNES Street Fighter 2, when at 4:00 the guy who traded them all in came in. This time with systems. Among them was the Sega tower. Genesis 1, 32x, and a Sega CD. But this was not just any CD. It was the Model 1. Extending tray, digital display, fits nicely beneath the system. The 32x didn't work but everything else was great. After my shift I checked my account balance, bought one of my last Christmas gifts, calculated the rest of them, and went back to get the system. $79.99 for the Genesis/CD combo because we don't have a sku to differentiate the models. Normally that combo can go anywhere from $50-$200 depending on condition and what it has with it. I got a damn good deal, and after I finish Mana Khemia I think I may have to get a little Lunar going.
