I meant to post this earlier, but for one reason or another I'd never remember at the same time I was visiting. Most of my short fiction isn't the more pulpy adventure stuff I started with as a fanfic writer because it's hard to sell it at the short fiction level. There's a been there, done that feeling that short fiction magazines don't like. The more literary stuff I tend not to mention over here just because I'm not sure if anyone would be interested. But I got the chance to do a story in a space opera setting and that was published last month. "Confidence Game" is probably the best action/adventure short I've written, featuring a con artist turned stage magician who gets coerced into doing a potentially lethal job for a government security team. And yes, being a stage magician has its perks. I was learning stage magic last year and one of my crit group members told me that I had to incorporate it into a story, and I figured that putting a stage magician in the future is something that hasn't really been done before. You can read "Confidence Game" over here for free until the end of the month: www.galaxysedge.com/n11.htm
