The Yagami was quiet.
Sitting alone in the bridge, Caesar snoozed quietly in the captain's chair, a tablet resting on his lap. Various numbers about the ship flashed on the screen, ignored by the sleeping young captain.
The door leading into the bridge hissed open, and Solana quietly entered. Looking down at the young Catallena, Solana shakes her head, smiling a little as she picks up the tablet before it can fall to the floor. Leaving it on a table nearby, Solana walks over to a small cabnet by the door, and pulls a small blanket out of it.
"Another late night for the Guardian of the Yagami?"
Solana slowly drapes the blanket over the sleeping Caesar, and the young man cuddles in the blanket out of reflex. Solana then looks over to the hologram of Saati, who is staring back at the Guardian with tired eyes and a sleeping cap on.
"It's hard to get the time of day right when we're in space," Solana says, still smiling all the while. "Also, helping people always is worth it, Guardian duties or otherwise."
Saati nods, but then looks to Solana again. "But why did you tag along? I understand you have taken care of the kids, Caesar and Kalia especially, but did you come just to keep them out of trouble? Or just for the adventure?"
Solana's smile is quickly replaced with a look of surprise from the sudden questions from the usually bubbly AI. "I'm shocked Saati. No one's really asked me my reasons why."
Before Saati could answer, Solana quietly pulls one of the chairs for the other crew members and sits down. "But i'll tell you why. It's not because of my duties as a Guardian, and it's not because i'm their 'Auntie Solana.' I'm here because I was trusted with another duty, one that I promised I would do."
Saati's sleeping cap poofed off of her head, and she floated over closer to Solana. "A promise to who?"
Solana looked over to Caesar, and back to Saati. "It's a long story, from a long time ago. If you promise to make me a cup of tea, I'll be glad to tell you."
Saati clapped her hands together with glee. "That sounds fair. Tell me!"
Solana nods. "Very well. We have to turn the story back, to when two people found themselves in very unfamiliar territory..."

This is something I've wanted to write forever now, but didn't have a computer to do it.
Solana, this is for you.
