Okay.
So, I don't know how much TV watching the rest of you do compared to me, but I, like most people, have my stable of shows I watch through out the year (not counting anime).
Over the years, the big TV networks have gotten worse and worse when it comes to picking up, renewing, and canceling shows. I've lost many a show over the years that to me were axed long before their time, while other shows that to me do not deserve to be on the air continue to live.
If you are a show watcher like me, then you are aware that the past few days could be considered one of the bloodiest when it comes to show cancelations I've ever seen in my 30 plus years of watching network TV. I mean, good gravy, we're talking almost two dozen show deaths at my count across all the alphabet networks.
And shows that I dearly like were not spared: Scorpion, Lucifer, and Taken.
Now, Taken may yet live to be picked up by someone else as it apparently has a strong international pull. And Lucifer could survive, because the internet has started screaming about its canceling (I admit I signed the biggest petition to save it myself). Scorpion is probably dead, unfortunately.
So where am I going with this?
I'm fucking tired of shows getting canceled based upon the antiquated ratings system still employed by networks. Yeah, they have started to include over night digital viewings, but I don't think they properly take that into account. Basically, I think ratings are, pardon the pun, over rated. Networks have to share some of the blame by putting shows on nights where they don't stand a chance. Both Lucifer and Scorpion were Monday night shows.
What is one of the biggest audience drawers on Monday night?
FREAKING WRESTLING!!!!!
It's like putting something up against NCIS on Tuesdays....you're gonna lose!
I am sick and tired of networks using a flawed system for today's modern viewing, especially when shows get left with season finale cliff hangers!
Now, forever, I have to be sickened with the way Scorpion ended! SICKENED!!!!
And Lucifer's going to end on a cliffhanger, too, which the show runner has apologized for after the cancelation.
ARGH!!!!!
I've lost at least half a dozen shows in the past two years to this crap, all of them ending with cliffhangers that will never be resolved!!!!!!
And then there is the bastard child that is the CW...who decided NOT to pick up the Supernatural spin off Wayward Sisters! The backdoor pilot was a huge success, everyone was looking forward to it! I was really excited for it, and what do they decide to do? Pass on it...and instead go for Charmed and Roswell reboots...both of which are looking to be decently politically charged compared to the original versions
BOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

K...I'm done.
