Time takes it toll on the best of us.
Even the soul stealer Zero.
Said Soul Stealer was under a tree, reading the 210th Volume of One Piece, which he had come to the conclusion that the series will never be allowed to end. While he was deeply engrossed in said Manga, he heard the very fimular to the aged Soul Stealer.
"Ho, brats. What do you want?"
Laughing, Dante Atrandes peeked over the Soul Stealer's shoulder to look at the Manga, then shook his head. "Aren't you a little old to be reading comic books, old man?
Brushing his slightly faded blonde hair, Zero peeked over his shoulder to look at Ninya and Roas's first child, the same arrogant smirk on his face that the young man had the entire time Zero knew him, which now totaled 18 years. Peeking over his other shoulder, he saw the rest of what was called "The Gang," showing Dante's sister, Ilayne, Lark and Schala's daughter, Kalia.
Sneering at Roas, Zero dismissed the kids with a waive. "Don't call me old. At least I still have a full head of hair."
"He's not going bald! It's just thinning!"
"Don't try, Ilayne."
Sighing, Zero pushes Dante back and goes back to reading his manga. "If you're looking for Caesar, he's in the shed. Where he always is."
Dante's smirk never fades. "Of course."
Standing up, Dante walks over to the ladies, but couldn't help adding one more thing. "Hey, Zero?"
"What?"
"Luffy and Nami totally kiss at the end of that chapter."
His eyes open wide, Zero quickly flips to the end of the chapter, only to be solely dissapointed with the end.
"Damn Kids."
-----------------------
"I love to be me."
Sitting in a chair, two keyboards on each armrest, Caesar Catellena was quickly compiling data on a main screen in front of him. His typical black attire had a white lab coat added to it, and glasses rested on his nose. Black Bandana still on his head, Caesar's smile never fades.
"Status Report!"
The screen boots up, and after a second, the screen displays one word: *Ready.*
"Dark Matter core?"
*Go Flight.*
"Life Support?"
*Go Flight.*
"Flight Computer?"
*Go Flight.*
"OS?"
*Generation Unsubuded Neo Drive Assault Module Complex, Deep Space Edition, ready and Go Flight*
Caesar's smile grows. "All systems..."
*Go Flight.*
Caesar's eyes close. "At last... I am off this rock."
Standing up, Caesar sets the computer to Stand-by, and walks out. After a few hundred feet, he walks down a hall and begins to climb some stairs upword. Several flights of stairs later, he opens a door to see...
"Hey, Pinky!"
Slapping his forehead, Caesar turns to his best friend, and smirks. "What's hanging, Dante?"
Eye wide with suprise, Dante looks over his best friend, rubbing under his chin. "What's up, buddy? You seem kinda out of it."
Waving a hand, Caesar walks by Dante, only to run into the more sensable of the Gang, Kalia. Placing a hand on his shoulder, Kalia stops Caesar in his tracks. "Caesar, we've known each other sinse we were kids. You've never been so... distant from us. I mean, what ever yo're doing down there... it's taking over your life. For Althena's sake, Dante just called you Pinky and you didn't even budge."
Caesar's smirk begins to fade. "I just finished today. It's my greatest work."
Now Dante's smile vanished.
Walking away again, Caesar begins to head to the Shrine...
...Only to be stopped by Ilayne.
"You're up to something, Caesar."
Caesar didn't stop. "Aren't I always?"
"No, this is big. What are you planning, Caesar Catellena?"
Caesar didn't answer. He just kept walking.
Kalia and Dante walk over and stand next to Ilayne.
"What are you planning to do, Caesar? Without us?"
---------------------
He Finished today.
I know.
Do you think he'll leave so soon? I mean, he should run a few dozen more checks...
Yeah, but you forget he's my son. He's going to want to leave as soon as possable.
Should we let him go? He's only 16.
Do you think he'll stay if we tell him? He's hung out the the children of adventurers. He wants in.
But... alone?
Late that night, Caesar Catalena peeked into his parent's bedroom. His father, Zero, was fast asleep, holding his wife, Kiyone, in his arms. They were out.
Excellent.
"Later, Mom... Dad. I hope you guys will understand."
Walking out into the Shrine that he called home for so long, Caesar was suprised to see another soul up at this time of the night, that of the Guardian, Solana. Treading quietly, Caesar tried to get around Solana, but being Six Five made being stealthy rather hard.
"Good morning, Caesar! Going somewhere today?"
Quickly hiding his bag behind himself, Caesar laughed, scratching behind his head. "Ah, yup, sure thing Auntie Solana, just on another one of my little journeys into town. Same old, same old!"
Smiling, Solana walked over to the young man, and patted him on the shoulder. "Okay. Just make sure you don't scare your Mom too much."
Caesar laughed again. "Oh, don't worry, Auntie Solana! I'll be safe!"
Quickly laughing, Caesar ran out of the Shrine, leaving a smiling Solana. "Kids."
------------
The morning mist kept Caesar from being noticed by anyone around him, and he took full advantange of that situation. Quickly getting close to the shed, Caesar was almost to the door when a voice broke the quiet.
"So, going out on a trip, Son?"
Crap.
Slowly turning around, Caesar saw only the deep red eyes of his Father. "How long did you know?
"Please. Do you think that I would just allow you to work on something deep underground with Sae and Washu for half a year and not get suspicous? I've known for months."
Looking down, Caesar dropped his bag. "So, I guess i'm not going anywhere."
Giving the smirk so famous in his family, Zero picks up his son's bag. "You mean you, just randomly flying around the Universe, doing whatever you want? As a self-respecting parent, I couldn't do that."
Caesar's spirt's drop.
"But... I can send you to go shopping."
Forcing a piece of paper into his son's hand, Zero smiles and walks away. " I expect it back."
Looking down at the list, Caesar's jaw drops.
"Lon Lon Milk? Moonwort herb? This will take me months..."
At that point, it dawns on him.
'Greatest. Parents. Ever.'
--------
Walking back to the Shrine, Zero's mind is lost in thought. A lone voice breaks him out of his thoughts.
"He's going?"
Looking up to see his wife, Zero put his arm around her shoulders, her shorter hair tickleing his arm. "Yup."
---------------
"Engine output!"
*100 percent.*
---------------
"You still think we're doing the right thing?"
"He'll be fine."
----------------
"Open hatch."
----------------
The back field of the Shrine opens up, wind gusting up from everywhere.
----------------
*Neo-Yagami, all systems launch.*
----------------
Kiyone's eyes peer to her husbands, and a quick tick of annoyance reach her features. "What do you know?"
Zero's smile escapes his face. "He's an idiot. He thinks he's doing this alone."
"Huh?"
----------------
"Neo-Yagami... Lau..."
"What?!?"
Caesar slowly turns his head, to see that all of the sub-captain's chairs have been filled.
Ilayne is fuming at him, shaking her head. "You're doing it all wrong! Where's the countdown?!?"
Caesar is flabbergasted. "Wha...?"
"She right, dude," Dante announces from another seat. "Countdowns are tradition. Can't have a launch without a countdown."
From another seat, Kalia laughs. "And here we thought you knew everything, Caesar."
Standing up, Caesar points to the assembled party. "What in the hells are you guys doing here?!?"
Ilyane stands up just a quick, returning the finger. "What are we doing here? What the hell were you thinking going without us?!? Letting a Catellena into space unsuperivised is just asking for trouble!"
Caesar started to flail his arms. "But... I KNEW there was no way in hell that your old men would let you go! I saved myself some problems!"
"Yup," Dante smiled. "You're right."
Kalia raised a hand. "That's why we didn't tell them"
"Huh?
"Look," Dante states, standing up. "We're going with you, and that's final. It'll be just like old times, just in a much larger playpen."
Before Caesar could saying anything, the bridge doors open.
"Yes. And that's why i'm here."
Caesar's finger slowly moves to the door. "Auntie... Solana."
"I haven't had a good journey in a few years. So, I promised your father I would tag along... keep you on the stright and narrow."
Sighing, Caesar falls into the captain's chair. "You know what? Fine. Whatever. A montly crew for a montly ship."
Solana smiles. "That's the spirit."
Caesar turns back to the screen. "Neo-Yagami. We're leaving. NOW."
---------------
With that, the story begins...
