Greetings and farewell, everyone.
I hope during these fucked up times, you have all navigated safely where both you and your loved ones have stayed both sane and healthy.
I return today to say my goodbyes for reasons I shall now make clear.
Before the COVID overran the good senses of the world, my Federal allowance for education loans had reached its limit, leaving me unable to finish my then current Master's Program. At that time I had resigned myself to continuing to restore my personal credit, still suffering my China incident, so that I would be eligible for a separate kind of student loan so I could finish the program.
Then shortly before COVID hit I had a revelation that the program was worthless to me and my future, and I had decided to fully devote myself to my writing once more. As the COVID insanity began, I had already begun a full rewrite of one of my original IPs with the intent to once more engage in trying to land an agent to go the path of traditional publishing. 4 months later I completed my rewrite, enlisted my pre-readers, and began my editing process before starting the agent hunt.
In the end my agent hunt yielded the null results I expected, because these days traditional publishing wants woke, SJW agenda writing, and I don't do that, but I had to try one more time anyways. This left me with my plan B as the Fall came around, self-publishing through crowd funding. But this course required a great deal of prep-work. Over the past few years I have watched other self-publishing efforts in adjacent industries become quite successful in the crowd funding world, but part of the key to such success, aside from talent, was promotion through platforms such as YouTube.
As the Fall came to close, I began my preparations to start my own YouTube channel: necessary extra hardware, software, and teaching myself the few skills I lacked, bringing us to the here and now where next week I plan to launch my channel. Over the next 10-12 months I plan to do my best to entertain and build a subscriber base among the YouTube communities I frequent that I hope to turn into a crowd funding base. At the same time I have already begun the early stages of constructing an independent publishers network similar to what I've witnessed in comics to work as a community to help authors who are professionally ready but are being gate kept out. Traditional publishing is a dying industry because of lack of talent and agenda. And if I can successfully crowd fund, all the proft after printing and fulfilment goes to me and not a dried up industry.
This brings me to my primary reason for returning here.
While I was working on my book last Spring, I realized I could go farther than just its five book cycle. I had the epiphany that if I took the time and made the effort, I could turn the Saga mainstream. All I had to do was remove all the anime and videogame IPs I didn't own and replace them with my own creations. This of course would require several original series to world build portions of the Universe to fill in what I needed. While I was agent hunting, I blocked out these replacement IPs alongside all the series that covered the back stories of all the Saga heroes I own. Needless to say, I have created quite the mountain of books I need to write, but should my coming ventures be successful, I will be happy to do this the rest of my life.
Which brings me to the other hurdle. You fine people were my partners for years, allowing me the use of your original IPs, however, your IPs are not required for me to accomplish my goals. Some of you I have already contacted and secured agreements to continue our partnerships with promised negotiation for appropriate legal compensation if and when the time comes to use your IPs.
Here is a simple courtesy I'm extending to the rest of you.
If I have not spoken to you already in private, it is because I have determined I can go my own way without your assistance or use of your IP. However, if you believe we can still work together I am open to a discussion on the matter, but be warned in some of your cases there will be no further negotiation as I have already devised replacements for your IPs that I am thoroughly satisfied with. Should you wish to reach out to me, and because after I post this I will not be returning here, most of you should still have my personal email address from past correspondence. If you cannot find it, talk to Anon, he can get it for you.
As I leave, and because in these versions they will no longer viable and I do not wish them to exist in the wild, I will be removing all vestiges of the Saga from these forums. Considering I did all the writing and 95% of the creative work on them, I believe I am within my right to do so. I apologize if this offends some of you. I've made my decision, and my own future transcends your feelings on the matter.
As I said, I am leaving and I will not be returning, so don't bother replying to this post, because I will never read it. I will always hold our old times together as fond memories, but since departing I have fully come to understand that I do not fit in here anymore. In my internet travels I have come upon and joined other communities for my hobbies where I find myself more comfortable and able to freely be myself. Since before my departure last year, I increasingly felt that to be the opposite here.
But that's life. Nothing can stay the same forever, and we have come to the point where our paths diverge. I wish us to part on these diverging paths on relatively good terms, and it is my belief should I remain here any longer that would eventually not be the case for reasons you all can probably guess.
I wish you all the best.
Goodbye, my friends.
Try not to take the world too seriously.
