Hoping 2022 will be kind to you all. Unfortunately I still have 2021 fallout I'll be dealing with (still need to get feeding tube removed, health insurance woes, and my job still hasn't told me whether it's going to exempt me from a cross country move from one coast to the other due to the fact I won't have family/friends to drive me to medical procedures in Florida).
But I'm still hoping for better. At least my cancer appears to be in remission so far. It's still early to be saying that, but my first post-treatment scan was clean, so here's hoping it stays that way. I'm getting healthier. The feeding tube is still in me, but I'm not currently using it. I'm trying to see if I can maintain my weight without supplementing my diet with a direct feed, and if I can do that, I should be able to get the tube removed later this month.
Thankfully my office is still working remotely so I don't have to be juggling a commute while managing eating 5-6 times a day, because it gets really time consuming having to break all the time, and I get to save all the commute time I'd otherwise be spending in a car. We're supposed to be moving to a hybrid work system going forward, where we're only physically in the office part of the week, and I hope that works out, though I don't know how things will go once the rest of the office moves to Florida (supposedly by the end of the year). Regardless of whether I get an exception or not, I'm not going, but my friends at work think I should eventually be approved since it's for medical reasons and it's absurd (and maybe illegal) to force a cancer patient to move across the country and away from their support network in order to keep their job.
Eh.. this is not turning out to be the bright and happy New Year's post I was hoping it would be. So I hope you all are doing better. Really!
