My current project is a portrait of my brother's bulldog, Lt. Pickles. (He'd planned on naming his bulldog Mr. Pickles after Butters' dog in 'South Park', but he was chosen by a female puppy.) Luckily, since the last dog portrait I did was of a beagle with similar colors, I was able to reuse a number of skeins of thread.

Hehe... well, it's better he went with the dog who chose him than go out of the way to say "No, it has to be a male dog!" Lt. Pickles is looking fine.

Yeah, thanks! Cross-stitch is supposed to be good for anxiety, which is nice with trying to quickly learn all of the skills of a vet tech without a specialized degree. (I got moved to another area and adore it. A little slower, a vet who is the epitome of 'do no harm but take no sh*t, and a mentor vet tech with the same attitude and also has fibro so we support each other on the bad days.)

I did manage to finish it before Christmas. I'll be honest, part of the reason that I was rushing is that Pickles puppy is starting to age, and I wanted to finish it while she's here.

Aw, sorry to hear that Pickles is getting on in age, but that's a lovely cross stitch! It came out well and you can see a lot of her personality.

Thank you! She adores the camera (and mirrors) as much as my brother. That one year for Christmas my cousin got a mirror, and Pickles leaped over piles of wrapping paper to get in front of it. Bulldogs don't have as long a lifespan as other breeds, but my brother and sister-in-law have been very careful to make sure she doesn't get overweight. They've had her since before my nephews, and she treats them like puppies.
