Its been quite a long time. How are you all doing? Feeling good? Staying hydrated? Working on something cool lately? Got your covid shots?

Hi, Alis! Welcome back! I'm learning all kinds of cool (and gross) medical stuff about animals. The weekend before last I had to give a shot to a bony and pregnant cow. Other days I've had to chase 700lb pigs around their pen to give shots because pigs are drama queens. Of course I'm staying hydrated, and I got my 2nd booster for going to my beloved Atlantis in May. One of our supervisors is from Naples in Italy and was talking about an Italian rum cake, so I'm going to buy a bottle of rum for him to add to a cake to bring in one day. He wasn't sure if one barrel would be enough. I'm working on the sequel to 'Storms of Rebirth', which will be called 'Memory's Price' and also be a great introduction to the Battlescar series that DarkKnight and I have been working on together for years. I'm also doing another oceanic cross-stitch of Jim Warren's painting, 'Ocean Dreams'. It's a thirty-page pattern and will take me years. For fun, I'm diving back into the Indonesian language on Duolingo.

Well, the past year has been a downward ride. My mom had a heart attack and a stroke last year, so it's been harder to look after her. Her short term memory is slowly eroding, so that's been fun. And now certain folks that should not be named decided to end Covid food stamp aid… Even though Covid is still a thing… And all the grocery stores have been gouging up their prices… ….can you feel the sarcasm dripping yet?

I've been super busy lately. I probably shouldn't even be typing this right now, but just really wanted a distraction from work. I'm still dealing with a lot of medical paperwork from my cancer treatment a couple years ago (insurance problems... I wish the US medical system wasn't so complicated). My job has mostly gone back into the office now, but because I'm immunocompromised my boss lets me work remotely. Unfortunately that has other issues, particularly with equipment, so it's been hard to do some of my checks in a timely manner and I've had to lean on another team's help for assistance. They've been nice about it, but I don't like feeling like dead weight.
I'm all boostered up with my covid shots though, because goodness knows I could use all the protection I can get.
