Okay everyone. I created this board for those who will occasionally just need to rant out their frustrations of real life. Being that I created this I'll start.
As I've mentioned, I have gone back to school. My Math/Computer Science degree is not off to the greatest start. It's not because of the subject matter, but rather a teacher who does not seem to know how to teach it. So as not to put out a name, I will use "teacher x."
Teacher x is forign. This in and of itself is not a bad thing. However, a thick accent while speaking fast is not something you want when explaining something like Math. Many of us are having a hard time with just the subject matter (I'm not one of them (yet)). Again, this alone is not terrible, but teacher x, also tends to skip steps without explaining the thought process. As a lecture, teacher x does several problems from the homework, as quickly as possible, and doesn't stop to allow for it to sink in or take questions. If we have a question, because teacher x is always staring at the board, we have to be the ones to stop the lecture.
I could get more out of reading the book, and I do. The problem is that not everything is covered in the book the way teacher x wants it done. For that we have even a third source. A computer program/lecture in which we do our homework, and listen to a better version of the lecture, narrated by someone without an accent, who goes slower, and explains things better.
If I wanted to sign up for a web course I would have done that.
Solana I may have to take you up on that offer of math help if things get much worse.
To top it off I had a conversation with two other students in "lab" (aka time where we must come up to campus for the sole purpose of doing our math homework (Maybe I'm different, but I can do my homework at home without getting up early or wasting the gas)). This conversation had the tone of, "Is it just me or does the computer program do more teaching than teacher x does?" We were all in agreement.
