Post any rants on fanfiction, current or otherwise, you deem are appropriate. Today's rant: I hate it when I can't find the drive to finish stuff. Reika: Yeah, isn't everyone waiting on you to finish your section of Children of Highschool? Schala: Dammit, Reika... Reika: Uhh... oops? :3 .... ........ ............ That reminds me. There used to be this fanfic I read a while back. Wasn't it called Children of Hope? I wonder if it was ever finished...

Mine's not so much of a rant, but a complaint. The greatest Naruto Naru/Hina fic I have every read Two Halves was written by a former fanfic author DameWren. Sadly, she only wrote the first few chapters of its sequel Twice Shy before going pacifist to the point of not even writing about it. Any were allowed to take up her story and J R LeDoux picked it up. His last update was 4/20/11. There's a long wait.

That reminds me. There used to be this fanfic I read a while back. Wasn't it called Children of Hope? I wonder if it was ever finished... You want me to ban you...don't you... In all seriousness, I must finish what I'm working on first before I conclude CoH. It will get done, I have no blocks, except for descriptions for a few things, but nothing major. It's all planned out, I only need to get around to it.

I dislike seeing notes at the start of a fanfic to please review it and leave comments.
I dislike crack pairings of characters done for shock value.
On a related note, I dislike yaoi/yuri pairing of characters that are established heterosexuals. If they display no preference then I don't object to same sex pairing. This is particularly problematic with say... Weiss Kreuz... which you wouldn't know was a yaoi fangirl haven if you just watched the TV show and saw all the guys and the girls they get involved with.
I dislike not being able to find good fanfic set in some obscure game/anime. I just finished Hotel Dusk recently and dammit I want more Kyle Hyde. :\

Got a couple new ones. Shipping fanfics where the relationship is rushed because the writer just can't wait to make the two leads into a couple. Somehow seeing each other in person once and having some amount of chemistry translates into "I love you!" with barely any courtship. Even if the ship tease was supported by the show, doing that in a few chapters or a single short story is way too fast! I mean, if they're kissing in the first few thousand words of the 40000 word fanfic, what's left to do besides hop in the sack? (I suspect that's why so many of these fanfics sputter out and die or start adding in action scenes when there weren't any earlier.) Another rant: Ignoring or minimizing inconvenient parts of a character so he (or she) is a more platable romantic lead. "He's a germophobic murderer who has killed his own dad and an unarmed mother in front of her child! Let's not touch on how messed up that is... so he can hook up." I mean, I understand liking a flawed character who has does some horrible things but has some redeeming qualities, but someone that messed up should have a very difficult time in a relationship (unless his/her partner is similarly messed up). Going from psycho to dedicated partner just shouldn't be that easy.

Completely agree, however I must also point out that there are exceptions to every rule. There are some actual anime that start off with main characters declaring their love very early on. Of course, then the main part of the story becomes exploring the relationship rather than to simply "hop in the sack." Stuff like My Bride is a Mermaid, The World of Narue, or Mamoru-kun ni Megami no Shukufuku wo! (a.k.a. To Mamoru-kun, the blessings of the goddess!, or Venus to Mamoru). Of course these are anime's set up to be this way by their original authors, but one would hope that the writer of said fanfic would take the same approach if the get together moment was so early on.
