Yeah, Good Omens signed by both would be really expensive. ^^ Not surprised it was $750.

I once read a story on 'Not Always Right' where a bookstore was closing, and regular books were on sale for a dollar just to get rid of them. Special items like signed books were not part of this. A customer asked about this same item, a double autographed copy of 'Good Omens'.
Customer- Is that book on sale for a dollar?
Employee- No, it's only on regular books or items that are damaged.
Customer- Pleeeeeease?
Employee- No.
(Customer leaves. Ten minutes later, there's the crash of broken glass. Customer comes back up with 'Good Omens', broken from the display case, with the cover torn off.)
Customer- This book is damaged. Can I have it for a dollar?
That's where it left off. Stupid thing to do in a bookstore surrounded by fellow nerds. I don't imagine it ended well for them.

Yesterday was a crap day. I'm working this holiday weekend and doing split shifts to do afternoon treatments. We've had multiple large animal issues, all of the rats in a hypoxia chamber died due to the machine malfunctioning, and getting lost for twenty minutes to get to a far building on campus I know how to walk to but not drive to from my current home base. (For a false alarm, as it turns out.) It's also move-in weekend at campus, so students and parents were everywhere. (Head desks.) On the plus side, last night my parents made pot roast, a dish I remember eating at my grandmother's and consider one of my ultimate comfort foods. I had to shower and threw in some of the bath salts I got from the Bahamas last year. Lastly I threw in one of my birthday gifts, 'The Green Planet'. They have an entire episode dedicated to water plants, and it's amazing so far. They showcased a beautiful plant I'd never heard of the 'orchids of the falls'. Water lettuce being able to travel. I'll be grateful I'm not working Christmas and when my check arrives for holiday shopping.

Working holidays sucks. I hope they pay you extra when you have to come in for that.

They do, yes. Since I'm higher in seniority than other vet techs due to being part of the union longer (mua ha ha) I actually have Christmas off this year compared to working in retail or coming in as an LAA.
Even better, the other vet tech is back in. Ah, I missed his sarcasm last week.

This past weekend I finally brought my sister-in-law to the local RenFaire. My youngest brother hates it but was a good sport because he loves his wife. Later, when my younger brother came with his family, I was the proud auntie showing her youngest nephew where the Herpetological Society had snakes and reptiles to pet. I also finally got some silk wings for dancing but have to try and limit the turns as I get dizzy very quickly! Another great year for one of my favorite places in the world.

Does anyone else think that the Pentagulia theme was inspired by 'Tocatta and Fugue in D minor'? Specifically the theme inside the towers (Sega) or the second half of the melody (Playstation).

Given the inspiration other major video game composers took from the classics, I don't think that's out of line at all. Though, admittedly, I haven't listened to either of the pieces lately. ::stares at the collection of classical music inherited from Dad:: Yeah, I'll get to it sometime. There's absolutely no way it'll give me PTSD flashbacks of long trips to/from accordion conventions, right? ::coughs::
Seriously, though, I was finally able to get the last two accordions out of the house about a month ago as the person who is carrying on the legacy bought them to loan out to other musicians. I'm not surprised that it hit me mentally/emotionally seeing someone play the accordions in person for a little bit. That is also around when there was a successful closing on my former house. I am absolutely thrilled not to have to think about an extra set of bills/property taxes anymore.

Bernie Sanders was visiting the university I work at to drum up support for registering to vote. (I had off the week of his appearance there.) I commented on how it would have been cool if the informational picket we were doing was during his visit.
He ended up supporting the union's fight on his twitter which was awesome.

It is NOT easy to give a 500lb pig a shot in the neck. I thought rats were drama queens, but pigs are even worse. There was another pig that was taller than my waist that needed one, but luckily I bribed him with delicious pumpkin and went in for the stab while he was eating.

I think a major difference between the rat being a drama queen and the 500lb pig being a drama queen is the 500 pounds. xD If that pig doesn't want to move, you're going to have a hard time getting to move.

The problem is getting them to stay still, not shaking their heads screaming while ripping out a butterfly catheter. The one made a mistake getting in the corner with his buddy on the other side, and I finally finished the work.
Sheep are funny because they are the ultimate wingsheep. If I have to get the temperature or heartrate of one sheep, its friends will get between us and block me.
