Haha, that sounds like sheep. They need to band together. I find it amazing that you have such large animals in your workplace, since upkeep costs are significantly higher than a lab rat.

I think in that case it's a combination of getting paid by labs for the research on some and the agricultural school in the other. There's an actual barn that holds a few dozen pigs, some beautiful white turkeys for blood draws, and can hold horses and/or cows and is called the teaching barn on the one campus. Most of the pigs are only about a hundred or so pounds. Pigs are very useful for surgery practice because their organs are around the same size as ours and we often have pigs or sheep getting shunts put in.

Gah, Joann Fabrics got me again! For the past three years they've done oceanic ornaments and they had a sea lion this year. So I got some before clearance for the first year. (They KNEW I got a retention bonus at work and they wanted it!)

After getting swallowed up by NaNoWriMo last month, I find myself hurtling towards the end of 2022 with things that for one reason or another didn't get done this year. There's a large part of me that feels like wondering just where has this year gone, given that I'm no longer in active cancer treatment. Though I'm still having a variety of medical visits as part of my health monitoring, I'm at least not losing days to lying in bed under heavy medication.
It got so bad that I actually started a Google Doc spreadsheet to track what I was doing everyday because I couldn't quite figure out where all my time was going. Unfortunately I need a better way to code things because what I really need is a breakdown of X% time on chores, Y% time on medical appointments, Z% time on gaming, etc. and I'm not quite sure the best way to do that. I like my current layout for purposes of filling out information (I have time represented in 15 min intervals for each row and then I just fill in cells down each column for each day in a particular color to represent what I was doing), but I would like a big picture view where I can see "Well, I spent 25% of my day gaming or I spent 3 hours gaming" or something like that for a particular day, week, or month. (Day or month mostly. I don't think week breakdowns are as necessary.)
Since it's December now I'm probably going to try binging through a few short games (and finish AI Nirvana Initiative) so I feel less bad about my copious amount of purchasing this year, and also try to catch up on my reading because I've been really bad this year. I might not hit my goal of twelve books this year, but maybe if I pick shorter ones...

There are a lot of good YA novels that are shorter. Just picture me shoving one book after another into your hands. But you're right on the year going. I've been a vet tech for almost a year and feel like I'm further back than when I started.

The issue isn't having enough books. xD It's just reading them!

Ah, darn real life getting into the way of reading goodness. I recommend a pot of a really tasty tea and a cozy blanket to help. (Granted, it's really frickin' cold up here now and going outside is less tempting.)

The moment when you realize that the recent 'Rescue Rangers' movie was a stealth sequel to 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit?'.

I have to know what Dutch tea companies do differently. I have an online friend that I did a tea exchange with who lives in the Netherlands. So far I've tried a few of the teas she sent me and they're so much more complex than teas here! Even the tropical one with passionfruit was epic, and I don't like passionfruit. (Too tart.) My grandmother is descended from Dutch nobility (we have a coat of arms and everything) so sometime I'd like to go there and find the area. Supposedly there was a castle by the sea, which is probably where the hydromania began.

There was a lovely tea I had when I was studying and living with a host family in Germany. I think it's orange ceylon in English (I actually don't remember the German at this point ), but it's hard to find around here without ordering online and it doesn't quite taste the same.

Merry Christmas! I hope people are staying safe and warm. (MN has the coldest Christmas in 40 years this year. At least it will be inspiring for the ice area in 'Memory's Price'.)
It was nice having a mini break, and everyone was amazing about presents. My obsession with Indonesian and SE Asian goodness continues with more CDs of gamelan music (my request) and a mortar and pestle that will be wonderful for making spice pastes. Garlic and lemongrass and cilantro will be a lot easier to play with! What's really neat is that it's a double ended mortar with one side being larger. It might come in handy for making bath products, too.
I might have to grab some books with the cash, too. I have a few titles in mind (the third 'Throne of Glass' book, maybe the first in the Iyarri Chronicles).

Aryn- She's coming! Ezi, ward the windows! Eziban- Got it. (Solana comes sprinting in, shrieking with joy) Solana- Dolphins! Dolphins staying at the local zoo! So sweet and cute and magical! (Goes on and on about their countless virtues.) I like going to the zoo in the wintertime to see the orchids on the Tropics Trail and feel the warmth and humidity and see the lovely animals from places I want to go (or have been ) There are dolphins staying there while their home aquarium is being renovated, and quite a few other people had the same idea. Unfortunately the training tickets were sold out, but I still got to see them early, and it was awesome. Ever since playing/watching 'Hatoful Boyfriend', I always look for the Luzon bleeding heart pigeon in the Asian birds aviary area too. He's a handsome boi like Anghel.

*Meanwhile, the door that was slammed open begins to shut a little, revealing Lark embedded into the wall.*
Lark: *strained* Glad to know she's still chipper. Ow…
