It was a 50/50 shot. And the winner is . . . Solana. Congratulations. You win a piece of my newly found Sour Patch Candy Corn, the only kind I find actually decent. This is not what will be in my candy review this year. That comes later today.

Yes, that is right. Oreo has a chocolate bar. And it is my interesting find this year. I saw these sitting on the shelf during my first trip out and said, "Oh, I gotta try these." I did get some interesting finds, but when it boiled down I was most excited about trying these. In looking at the package, I figured this would be some kind of marshmallow, cream, or nougat covered in chocolate with bits of Oreo cookie in it. What I got was not quite what I expected. Let's start with the outside. Most candy bars have this darker solid color, making it look like you could hold it for a while without it melting (not the case but it looks like it). Many, such as Snickers, have that poured look to them, but the chocolate looks like a chocolate shell. These had a light and even shiny sheen to them and a softer texture, with a look and feel much like higher priced chocolate truffles. The design on them looks similar, too. Biting into them, one is met with a surprising crispiness all the way through. The cream inside is proper Oreo cream and the cookie pieces are seem to be crispier cookie pieces. Normally, everyone's favorite part of the Oreo is the cream. With this, mine was the cookie. And the inside is so packed with the cookie that the cream just fills in the cracks, which just gives enough flavor to get the cream contrast against everything else. As you may have guessed, my answer to is this worth a try is a resounding yes. I would even go as far as to say that I will keep my eye out for these next year and maybe even before then. Keep it sweet everyone. Attachments:

Thank you. And those Oreo bars sound really, really good. (Anything with a similarity to 'truffle' catches my eye.)
