Higher. 50/50 shot. Let's see if you can get it in one.

Afraid not. 202.99, but since you were the only participant you are still the winner. And with that this year's insane amount is stated. Now it's time for my candy review. So, I am sure we are all familiar with Pop Rocks. They have been around like forever. Similarly Kool-Aid (which I recently found out, the hard way, has an expiration date) has also been around like forever. Now Pop Rocks I always found to be a very novel candy, but that’s all it was. Novel. I never found the flavor as novel as the popping. Think of a video game with good gameplay, but no story. And you all know how much I value story. Don’t get me wrong, Pop Rocks have a flavor that you can tell the difference between types, but it is also so subtle that they aren't often worth it Kool-Aid on the other hand could be very good or very bad. When my mom was introduced to it by my dad’s large family, who made it stretch with more water and had a habit of not measuring the sugar well, she came to the conclusion that she didn’t like it. On the other hand, when I started making it, my mom liked it and my dad was asking me to make it. I even know people who will only drink it if it has fruit, ice cubes of another flavor, or in some other way another flavor introduced. So with personal preference as an issue as well, it can be very hit or miss. So here we have a Kool-Aid popping candy. The question is, knowing how temperamental Kool-Aid is, can the flavor be improved enough to make popping candy worth it? They created small, strange, triangular pouches (search google for picture) for the candy, which are 1-2 mouthfulls, so about the right amount. The pouches however are not exactly the best design. The real proof, however is the candy. I tried all three flavors. Grape, Cherry, and Fruit Punch. All three have distinct tastes, they are sufficiently intense in sweetness, and the popping isn't hindered either. This is a good find and one candy that I am actually surprised to say it is absolutely worth it.

... I'll still take that as a victory. When I was in Asia, I brought back treats for my coworkers. Unquestionably, the fan favorite was the Korean Pop Rocks I picked up in Seoul during a layover. (What was funny is that I thought I was grabbing an unusual flavor of Kit-Kats and was worried about them melting in the heat of Bali and Singapore.)

Happy Halloween, everyone. I'm curious as to whether the great candy guess will still be happening this year.

I hope everyone had a lovely Halloween. Since my mom was having some medical issues, we decided to wait for my dad's birthday lunch for another day. Dad and I enjoyed a lovely 'Scrubs' marathon on Saturday, and our Gordon Lightfoot concert was pushed back to June instead of last Friday. (Which is fine with both of us- I'll be in better shape in summer and hopefully the pandemic will be behind us.) It's hard to dress up at work with wearing scrubs and lab coats, but one of my friends painted spiderwebs around her eyes for the day. She also made cookies and decorated a clementine like a pumpkin for me.

It was quiet for me. I holed up at home and made sure the front of the house was dark so no errant trick or treaters would come. My neighborhood is older now and I hardly see them anymore. With covid still a thing and me no longer being able to eat sugar, having excess candy for a handful of kids didn't seem worthwhile. I also have been working at home ever since the pandemic started so disposing of candy by giving it to coworkers doesn't work either.
Not very much in the spirit of things, but otherwise the night was all right. I played my 3DS in the back of the house and got more gaming done.
