And we have a winner. Congrats to Solana. You may have one piece of virtual candy.
A new record this year with 171.46 lbs. Believe it or not I actually didn't spend that much more or have more packages than in past years. This year they increased the counts in each bags. Bags that had been 50 pieces were suddenly 72. Plus there were a few 3 and 5 lb bags in the lot. It was a good year for poundage.

I accept the candy gratefully. Congratulations on your new record!
That's interesting that the poundage was better. We usually give the full-size candy bars out, but this year, the price jumped up quite a bit. I think we ended up doing the big bags of little candy bars.

And now for the candy review. This year’s candy buying excursion yielded some themes. The first theme was that the bags were noticeably bigger than in years past. I could tell when carrying the bags that they had more heft. The second theme was that there was a noticeable lack of variety. The staples were all there; Snickers, Milky Way, Starburst, Nerds. There just wasn’t a lot of new candies or creative variations. However, there were some, and the trend they all seemed to cluster around was Carmel Apple. Jolly Rancher and Charms Caramel Apple Pops. Russell Stover caramel apple chocolate bar. Caramel Apple Milky Way. Carmel Apple . . . Twizzlers? That’s right Twizzlers has jumped on the band wagon. Now I have never been a big fan of licorice in general. I’ve always found the flavors of strawberry and cherry somewhat dull and extremely similar. The rainbow ones were a little better, but not by much. The apple ones were fairly decent, but there were still better candies. The Caramel Apple Twizzlers are Apple Twizzlers with caramel in the middle. On the plus side, the combo of tastes is pretty good, and the softer texture is a good change from other Twizzlers. On the down side, the caramel is not the greatest and the amount of caramel dwarfs the apple taste of the Twizzler. So boiled down (no, I’m not actually boiling them) is the candy worth it? I would not go out of my way to find it, because when it comes right down to it, they’re only “not bad,” but if it’s there, it’s worth a try.

>sigh< It's a pitiful sum compared to the last several years. I chalk this one up to few things. 1. Being out of town. 2. Out of town, the places weren't open until 8:00 at least. 3. By the time I got back home, the best stuff was already picked over. 4. Maybe it was an out of town thing, but the prices weren't great compared to the deals I normally get. Either way, it's finally counted. Do I have an opening guess?
