So up here in MN we just had a giant, long-lasting blizzard with freezing rain. At one point, I looked out my window and saw a neighbor on a snowmobile drive on the road. Connected to it was a canoe with four kids riding in it. It looked like a Jeff Foxworthy joke.

Going to an orchid show is a great way to forget about how bloody cold it is outside. (Lots of other people had the same idea- it was packed!) The flowers were gorgeous, and it was nice walking around a conservatory that was almost eighty degrees, admiring tropical plants while it was single digits outside.
No, I didn't bring home any friends (plants) since I have to do some research on caring for them first. I've tried and failed many times.

Proboards seems a bit broken at the moment. At least for me. Tried multiple browsers and the formatting looks like it went back to the 1990s. Not sure when this started since I haven't been here for a few days, but hopefully it fixes itself soon. >.>
Edit: And now it's fine again. That was weird. Usually reloading fixes things like that for me, but it didn't that time.

I had an amazing dream where Lunar 2 got a 3D remake and it was awesome. I should throw in EBC again one of these days...

I'm going in for some minor surgery tomorrow. I don't know if it'll affect my ability to type, but this is to take out the last of the cancer treatment "equipment" that was installed in me. So yay for looking better.

In any case, take it easy. Good to hear that there's good... to hear.

Good luck! As a medical professional, I prescribe more videogames and tasty beverages.

I figured with the 6-9 inches of snow we got last Friday, there would still be a copy of 'Frozen Planet 2' for me at the bookstore. There was, and it was even on sale. I'm looking forward to watching episodes in different areas than just the Arctic and Antarctic lands, though I'm hoping they'll show more of the abundant sealife found on the frigid sea floors.
I hate winter and the fibro flareups that come with it, but am fascinated by Antarctica. Go figure.

RIP, Gordon Lightfoot. I do wish that I could have brought Dad to another concert, but I'm happy that we did finally go see him last year. He looked rough already and had to take a water and rest break on stage.
One funny part is when someone yelled, "I love you, Gordon Lightfoot!" He just looked up and said, "Thank you."
Might have to play his masterpiece about the Edmund Fitzgerald.

I had a nice surprise. I'm heading to my beloved Atlantis next week and am getting things ready. I had bought a small digital waterproof camera for snorkeling pictures, but had forgotten to charge it.
I was playing with it yesterday and realized that it had had batteries, and HAD taken pictures. Not only that, but when the software didn't work, I discovered that my new laptop has a slot for SD cards! Now I just have to fix my leaky snorkel...

So, my PS4 might be on its last legs. I keep getting softlocked into safe mode and had to reinitialize my system again. Two, three weeks later, it happened AGAIN.
I'm just glad that 1; I have PS+ to back up my saves, and 2; That my brother is investing in a PS5.

Achievement unlocked. I've been given a free copy of an indie game to review.
I didn't expect this would ever happen since my blog doesn't have a lot of commenters other than a random friend who might slide into the comments once in a blue moon, but it's been up for several years, I post semi-regularly, and I often do story breakdowns of any RPG or visual novel I complete. (I may skip a game if I think the post is going to be primarily composed of me complaining.)
I'm a little surprised the devs contacted me since it's a yuri VN and I mostly cover mystery and otome VNs (and one time a BL VN), but I'm open to trying it. The game actually came out last December and has barely any Steam reviews, so I'm guessing the team is still trying to get the word out so they reached out to someone like me, even though I'm not in the yuri slice of VN fandom. From what I've played so far I think the problem is the art. It would have been fine ten years ago when English language VNs were few and far between, but it's really rough for a paid game. The story seems good enough that I could see myself finishing it though, so I'll probably do it as long as the dev is fine with me discussing the ending in my blog, since I usually talk about endings as part of my story posts.

Yeah, I just hope it doesn't end up being a dumpster fire by the end. Sometimes good beginnings don't lead to good endings and it's always a bummer when a game faceplants the finale. If the story is good though, I don't mind signal boosting. The dev confirmed they're fine with me spoiling and discussing the ending as long as I hide it behind a Read More break as I said I would, and they acknowledged that they're okay if my honest commentary ends up not particularly flattering. I think most reasonable developers expect that, but I figured I'd make sure before posting something and getting flamed as I use my real name on my blog and I don't want some rando dev sliding into my professional space and making a mess (since the blog is also connected to my writing).

I hadn't updated Backloggery in a while (where I get the "Now Playing" sig file I use) and after I logged my latest acquisitions I noticed that the number of unfinished is toddling awfully close to the number of beaten games. :/ I mean, I'm still a fair bit more than 50/50 because the completed games (which is where I 100% all the achievements, get all the endings, or whatever passes for doing everything in a game) are counted separately from the beaten games, and there are a lot of uncompleted games that realistically I have very little intention of going back to unless all game development ends this day forward, but it's still larger than I'd like. I've had the Minion of Bak'laag badge for a while now (100+ games in backlog) and I want to get rid of it eventually.
